- If you are interested in receiving an audio book of the next novel, When My Name Was Keoko by Linda Sue Park, bring in six blank CD-R's as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can contact your local library and pull a print or spoken version of the novel on your own and get started during the Winter Break. As with all audio books the ideal method is to read with the novel. Ideally, audio books should not replace the printed text but support it.

Have the students take out their history assignment sheets and write the following:
5/29: Review mini-evolution
Homework: prepare for final exam
Peer correction of previous quiz:
distribute a "mini-evolution" to every student and read the answers in the table aloud.
I will leave an answer key on my desk. Have the students correct the first question regarding the three periods of Roman history. Skip the extra credit question- I will evaluate those personally when I return.
Regarding the second page: Correct answers earn two points, incorrect answers earn zero and blank answers (or answers that clearly indicate the author was not seriously trying to answer the question) earn a -2 points. For example, if a student answers "Mickey Mouse fought Rome during the Punic wars." it would earn a -2 score not merely a zero.
Total the points and place the score in the box above the fraction "/36pts"
Next, have the students take out their Language Arts assignment sheets and write the following:
5/29: Het Achterhuis movie
Homework: prep book and journal
Video:
the video starts about 90 minutes into the film. Have the students try to find 2 differences between the diary and the film. Record these differences in your Response Journal.
Homework:
prepare book and reading journal for submission. Remove all Post-it's and book covers. Make sure your reading Journal has a full heading clearly written on the cover.

ask the senior student to start class
ask the senior student to grab the "shields" from the back of the room and tell the students that they will be taking a History pop mini-evolution for 16 minutes. It is open-note, but still NO TALKING. Give one general warning to the class if you hear any talking, passing witeout, strange looks etc. next,
Subtract five points for the first offense
and
give an F. for the second
Students should have a copy of Keoko or their other free reading book. Free reading for the rest of the period.
HOMEWORK: prepare for the next in-class essay question. Assume for the general question will remain the same but the character will change. Work on your "statement of significance."
